Malena received her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in children and adolescents from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI. She is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor through the state of Wisconsin. Malena holds a Master of Business Administration from Viterbo University, which she couples with her specialized training in providing career counseling services, and leadership skills. Malena's experiences include career counseling, specialized trainings in providing career exploration assessments, career development searches, and resume development.
Malena has worked extensively with families and children going through re-unification, physical and sexual abuse, adoption, and foster care. She has previous experience working in in-home, school, and community settings, as well as providing group therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults.
Malena's professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, and the EMDR International Association. She has specialized training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for ages 3-18 and is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist. She is also internationally trained in the EMDR Storytelling technique, QPR, and Youth Mental Health First Aide. Malena is bilingual, studying Spanish language at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. She provides services in both English and Spanish
