Training & Certifications

Dr. Mark Heberlein earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Professional Studies from the University of Notre Dame before completing his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University. He completed a rotating internship at Massachusetts Osteopathic Hospital and his residency in Osteopathic Family Practice at Rocky Mountain Osteopathic Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Heberlein is board certified in Osteopathic Family Practice and has completed additional training in Aerospace Medicine through the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, where he served as a Flight Surgeon. He has also completed advanced training in Medical Acupuncture for Physicians. Throughout his career, Dr. Heberlein has practiced full-spectrum family medicine, emergency medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and integrative care in both civilian and military settings.

Special Interests (Areas of Focus)

Dr. Heberlein has extensive experience in family medicine and emergency medicine, with a special interest in osteopathic manipulative medicine, integrative medicine, and preventive care. His background includes caring for patients across all stages of life, including pediatrics, women’s health, geriatrics, and emergency services. He values building strong therapeutic relationships with patients and emphasizes patient education, wellness, and active involvement in personal health goals. His military medical experience also provided specialized expertise in aerospace and flight medicine.

Hobbies & Personal Interests

Outside of medicine, Dr. Heberlein enjoys farming and prairie and woodland restoration. He has a passion for outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, bicycling, mountaineering, and rock climbing. He also enjoys music, particularly listening to and playing rock and Celtic music, and has longstanding interests in philosophy and public affairs.
