Training & Certifications

Dr. Charles Schauberger completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa following the completion of his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Addiction Medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Schauberger has served in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including practicing obstetrics and gynecology for more than 35 years and leading addiction medicine initiatives across Wisconsin. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (DFASAM). Dr. Schauberger has also contributed extensively to state and national organizations focused on patient safety, quality improvement, maternal health, and substance use treatment.

Special Interests (Areas of Focus)

Dr. Schauberger has a special interest in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, including alcoholism and opioid use disorder. He is particularly passionate about improving access to compassionate, evidence-based addiction care and has worked extensively with individuals experiencing substance use challenges, including pregnant and parenting patients. His background in women’s health and addiction medicine provides a unique perspective on whole-person care and recovery support.

Hobbies & Personal Interests

Outside of medicine, Dr. Schauberger enjoys studying plants and nature as an amateur botanist. He appreciates spending time outdoors and has a longstanding interest in the natural sciences.
