Training & Certifications

Carrie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin Stout. She worked as a Certified Social Worker for Vernon County and Gundersen Health System while returning to UW-Stout to obtain her Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Carrie continued at Gundersen Health System to receive her practicum hours before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in Behavioral Health and then the Neuroscience Clinic at Gundersen Health System. Carrie also worked in private practice before coming to Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers. In addition to her education and experience, Carrie is a trained EMDR therapist.

Special Interests (Areas of Focus)

Carrie has a special interest in treating the whole person, believing that both good physical and mental health practices promote the best outcome for each person. Carrie has experience helping individuals with a variety of health conditions that may impact mood including, but not limited to, neurological disorders, neurocognitive disorders, diabetes, respiratory issues and pain. Carrie also has experience treating anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders and caregiver fatigue.

Clinical Approach: Person Centered, Solution Focused practice using Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Distress Tolerance, Acceptance Strategies and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Hobbies & Personal Interests

In her spare time, Carrie enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, family, friends and animals. She enjoys camping, spending time outdoors and traveling to new and familiar places.
