Scenic Bluffs is focused on improving chronic pain management resources and support for patients and communities. Since 2019, we have focused on broadening our chronic pain and substance use disorder programs. This is in an effort to encourage alternative treatments for pain management that support healthy lifestyles, along with support individuals with substance use disorders. These efforts include the addition of complementary services at Scenic Bluffs, such as chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy, along with the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.
About the MAT Program
MAT is an office-based Buprenorphine Program (OBBP). At Scenic Bluffs, the MAT program combines Buprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone) therapy for maintenance, with individual counseling, education and supportive care to help with a number of medical and non-medical issues. This provides a whole-patient approach to the treatment of opiate use disorders. Our program uses Suboxone to treat symptoms of opiate addiction and withdrawal. The medication:
- Prevents opioid withdrawal and helps curve severe cravings.
- Provides a safe alternative to prescription or street opioids.
- Allows for recovery from opioid addiction, so individuals can return to living healthy and productive lives.
How does a patient get seen for the MAT Program at Scenic Bluffs?
To enroll in the MAT program at Scenic Bluffs, individuals will go through an admissions process for the program with one of our MAT providers. Once admitted, they will then meet with the provider and RN MAT Coordinator where the consents and assessments will be completed to better understand the patient’s needs.
Visits are individualized, but patients will generally have clinic visits every week until stable, with refills that coincide with visits. As the patient goes through the program, visits are less frequent (bi- weekly, monthly, then every few months), with random visits as needed in their recovery.
