Scenic Bluffs’ Clinical Director Named Wisconsin’s 2025 Immunization Champion

Scenic Bluffs’ Clinical Director Named Wisconsin’s 2025 Immunization Champion

Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers is proud to announce that Penny Funk, RN, MSN, Clinical Director for Scenic Bluffs, has been named Wisconsin’s 2025 Immunization Champion Awardee by the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The award, announced in conjunction with National Immunization Awareness Month, honors leaders who go above and beyond to promote and expand access to vaccines in their communities.

Funk’s recognition places her among 46 honorees nationwide who were nominated from a pool of health professionals, community advocates, and public health leaders for their exceptional contributions to immunization efforts. Earlier this spring, she was also recognized as the 2025 Immunization Champion by Immunize Wisconsin, further highlighting her impact.

Since joining Scenic Bluffs in 2024, Funk has spearheaded efforts to address vaccine access gaps in rural Western Wisconsin. She sought grant funding to expand outreach, developed innovative community partnerships, and ensured vaccines reached those who need them most. Under her leadership, Scenic Bluffs has significantly increased vaccine outreach and collaboration across western Wisconsin.

“Penny’s leadership has improved public health outcomes and positioned our Community Health Center as a trusted, innovative vaccine provider for all. Her innovation and dedication continue to drive new strategies and partnerships to reach underserved populations,” said Kim Hawthorne, CEO of Scenic Bluffs.

Reflecting on her work, AIM noted that Penny sees each vaccine “not just as a shot, but as a step toward a healthier, more equitable future.” Her recognition underscores Scenic Bluffs’ mission of delivering accessible, patient-centered care and building healthier communities.
